Nurses create iN: The World's First Cognitive Patient Care Assistant and become founders of an award winning technology company.

Michael Wang and Paul Coyne are nurses, friends, the founders of Inspiren and the inventors of iN, the world’s first cognitive patient care assistant. iN is a hybrid sensing, wall-mounted device, that uses computer vision, deep learning, BLE, and multiple sensors, to identify and analyze the hospital environment, including the interactions of people and medical equipment within a hospital room.

Inspiren has been nationally recognized by prominent organizations such as SXSW, Fast Company, and the American Nurses Association. In addition, Wang and Coyne are co-authors of the book “The Nurses Guide to Innovation”, inaugural fellows of SONSIEL, and continue to advance the mission of nurse led innovation through publication and public speaking.

Michael Wang (CEO)-Michael Wang has vast clinical experience in cardiothoracic surgery and direct patient care.  In addition, he holds numerous patents on innovate technologies in both the healthcare and hospitality industry and has founded two successful companies prior to Inspiren. He received a bachelors degree from Emory University, majoring in Biology and Sociology. He attended graduate school at Columbia University, studying both business and nursing.

Paul Coyne (President)- After beginning his career at Goldman Sachs, Paul Coyne decided to transition into career in healthcare. He went back to school and simultaneously entered Columbia University’s four year BSN/MSN/DNP program for nursing as well as Northeastern University’s combined MBA Healthcare Management/MS Finance program. Over the course of four years, Paul completed all five degrees. His work experience now spans from serving as manager of analytics at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital to leading Advanced Practice Nursing and Clinical Informatics at Hospital For Special Surgery.
